Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Enhances IoT Connectivity Through Private 5G Expansion

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) and Celona are teaming up to launch a private 5G solution that aims to revolutionize IoT connectivity and security in tricky environments around the globe. They see this partnership as a major step forward for reliable enterprise-grade connectivity, essential for critical operations.

ALE’s private 5G solution, powered by Celona, is designed specifically for complex industrial settings like manufacturing, refineries, logistics warehouses, and airport ramp areas. It’s built to provide ultra-reliable connectivity and extensive wireless coverage, supporting high-speed mobility for real-time industrial applications. This tech will enhance IoT integration and pave the way for Industry 4.0.

The solution is all set to connect next-gen IoT devices and applications that require ultra-low latency and dependable performance. Think of autonomous vehicles, robotics, high-definition video analytics, and augmented or virtual reality—all of which need solid wireless connectivity to thrive.

Celona’s private LTE and 5G access points operate within a spectrum range of 3.3 GHz to 4.2 GHz, covering bands n48, n78, and n77, catering to markets in the US, UK, and Europe. Looking ahead, support for n79 will tap into the Japanese and Southeast Asian markets. As the spectrum landscape evolves, these bands are crucial.

In practical terms, this turnkey solution works alongside ALE’s OmniVista, OmniSwitch, and OmniAccess Stellar WLAN networking products. This integration promises secure, high-quality connectivity across large, complex enterprise environments like industrial sites and campuses.

Security is a top priority too. Private 5G from Celona features robust SIM authentication. Technologies like MicroSlicing and Aerloc aim to offer dependable service along with application-level service level agreements (SLAs) and a strict zero-trust security posture for essential applications.

Stephan Robineau, ALE’s Executive Vice-President of Network Business, highlighted the importance of this partnership, emphasizing that it enhances their ability to deliver reliable enterprise connectivity. He pointed out that this technology aligns with ALE’s security-first philosophy and meets the specific needs of various industries, including energy, transportation, and manufacturing.

Celona co-founder Rajeev Shah sees this partnership as a gamechanger. He notes that their years of focused research and development have led to a private 5G solution that’s both secure and user-friendly. This innovation tackles the connectivity challenges that still plague certain businesses that haven’t yet moved beyond outdated methods.
