Buckinghamshire Council boosts efficiency through Microsoft Copilot

Buckinghamshire Council has implemented Copilot for Microsoft 365 in order to boost operational efficiency. This artificial intelligence tool from Microsoft has allowed the council to save up to 90 minutes per day on routine tasks and enhance accessibility.

The council views Copilot as a game-changer in their efforts to improve efficiency and maximize their limited resources. They aim to drive further efficiencies and transform their working practices with the help of this technology. Peter Parfitt, head of digital at Buckinghamshire Council, emphasized the importance of utilizing Copilot to enhance frontline services, particularly in social care and housing, which make up a significant portion of their budget.

Employees at Buckinghamshire Council have been given access to Copilot, with around 300 staff members utilizing the generative AI assistant across various Microsoft applications. The tool has been particularly effective in the council’s contact center, resulting in reduced call handling times and improved quality and complaints procedures.

The council is actively exploring different ways to make the most of Copilot, including using it to enhance accessibility for hearing-impaired staff and potentially improving experiences for neurodiverse employees. With the successful implementation of Copilot, Buckinghamshire Council is confident that they will continue to see significant benefits in the future.
