A team of cyber professionals with a shared vision of changing the mindset around threat defense and risk management in businesses have come together to launch a new platform called the Cyber Safety Force (CSF). Led by notable figures in the industry such as Guy Golan, Greg Sim, Simon Hodgkinson, and Wolfgang Selzer, the group aims to shift the focus from cyber security to cyber safety.
According to Golan, most organizations currently approach cyber security through compliance, which often leads them to do the bare minimum, putting them at risk. To combat this, the CSF has been established to introduce new principles and reform the way businesses think about cyber security. Their objective is to foster better protection by combining expertise and actionable data to create a set of best practices.
Cyber safety, as explained by Golan, refers to the ability to continue normal business operations without interruption, actively reducing risk and minimizing the impact of potential incidents. This requires security professionals to manage risk in a manner similar to other business risks, with transparent, accurate, and contextualized information.
The CSF seeks to empower organizations by providing clear principles that redefine their approach to cyber security. Co-founder Simon Hodgkinson emphasizes the need to view cyber security as seriously as physical security and adopt a cyber safety mindset. The CSF aims to achieve this by offering new members access to a range of resources including video content, panel discussions, expert insights, downloadable guides, regular blogs, and a LinkedIn presence. They also plan to announce further information and events throughout the year.
