Extreme Networks Boosts Networking AI Capabilities with Platform One

Extreme Networks is stepping up to meet the needs of business leaders who now find networks more complex than ever. They’ve introduced new features in their Platform One offering, claiming to be the first to combine conversational, multimodal, and agentic AI into one enterprise networking platform.

Since its initial announcement in December 2024, Platform One has gained traction, already used by over 130 companies worldwide. These businesses are utilizing it to enhance visibility, control, and efficiency in their networks, which helps streamline operations and speed up decision-making.

During the Extreme Connect 2025 conference in Paris, Nabil Bukhari, the Chief Product and Technology Officer, shared how the development of Platform One was based on enterprise feedback. Companies expressed frustrations over fragmented AI systems, insufficient real-time visibility, and complicated licensing. An overwhelming 89% of C-level executives want a unified platform blending AI, networking, and security, while 79% expect quick returns on their AI investments.

Bukhari highlighted that businesses want tangible outcomes and warned against what’s been termed “AI washing.” He emphasized that if a product doesn’t lead to new business outcomes, companies won’t invest in it. He noted the complexity of networking today; it stretches beyond buildings and campuses into employees’ homes and mobile devices. The challenge is not just managing these expansive networks but ensuring easy access and visibility.

If something goes wrong, teams must quickly identify and troubleshoot issues. They need a comprehensive map and a fine-tuned analysis of their network. Bukhari pointed out that no current tools effectively do both without incurring additional costs.

Extreme aims to either enhance existing applications or change the landscape entirely. With Platform One, they are focused on providing solutions that network professionals can rely on for the next decade. Bukhari claims the platform breaks down silos between networking and security and automates tasks, significantly reducing manual workload. It offers users a single access point to crucial information, like product docs and training materials, and can cut manual tasks by up to 90%.

With AI Canvas, users can generate real-time dashboards and reports in just minutes. The Service AI Agent enhances support by diagnosing and resolving issues automatically, even generating support cases without user intervention when needed.

On the security front, Platform One employs Zero Trust Network Access technology, simplifying access security through a single engine that integrates policies across various platforms. An AI advisory agent helps streamline policy management, thereby reducing security complications and lowering risk.

The platform aims to boost productivity by minimizing unnecessary steps and providing tailored experiences for different roles within organizations. This includes advanced visualization capabilities to identify network blind spots and maintain visibility across all layers.

Jim Frey, a principal analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, noted that Extreme is unifying its tools into a single, powerful platform. He finds they’re making significant strides in delivering AI benefits to networking, enhancing visibility and control, simplifying operations, and providing a foundation that adapts to business demands.

Early adopters like West Suffolk NHS, Eon, and Dubai World Trade Centre showcased how Platform One is changing their operations. Andrew Smith from West Suffolk NHS discussed how the platform allows them to monitor their hospitals more proactively and efficiently, providing insights across various locations and helping them address issues before they escalate.

Smith outlined four key advantages of using the platform: visibility of assets, simplified licensing processes, clear reporting for stakeholders, and enhanced security. He emphasized that as their organization expands, Platform One’s adaptability will facilitate their growth and improve patient care.

Though currently available in limited capacity, Extreme plans to roll out general access by the third quarter of 2025.
