Dell Technologies and Nutanix have strengthened their partnership by introducing a new hyperconverged infrastructure-based appliance and planning to integrate Dell’s software-defined storage into Nutanix’s HCI next year.
The new Dell XC Plus appliance combines Dell’s PowerEdge server hardware with the Nutanix Cloud Platform software. Dell will provide support for both hardware and software, as well as licensing for both vendors. The partnership aims to compete with VMware in the enterprise market, as many VMware customers are seeking alternatives due to pricing changes following the Broadcom acquisition.
The Dell XC Plus offers various hardware configurations and comes pre-installed with the Nutanix Cloud Platform and Prism control console. Dell will provide managed contract and technical support for the appliance. Additionally, Dell’s PowerFlex software-defined storage will be integrated with the Nutanix Cloud Platform to offer customers a familiar storage platform.
Overall, the partnership between Dell and Nutanix aims to provide enterprise customers with reliable, feature-rich HCI solutions as an alternative to VMware. Other hypervisor challengers in the market include Microsoft Azure Stack HCI, Verge.io, Proxmox, and Linux-based VMs. However, Nutanix’s partnership with Dell provides customers with a level of storage assurance and simplifies their IT environment.
The goal is to meet the growing demand for virtualization alternatives in a hybrid multi-cloud world, while ensuring enterprise-grade reliability and simplification of IT operations.
