Tech Talent Charter to dissolve after almost a decade of operation

The Tech Talent Charter has been instrumental in teaching the tech industry how to effectively fish for and retain diverse talent. However, recent patterns suggest a lack of leadership buy-in and the risk of diversity initiatives becoming performative rather than intentional. As a result, the TTC has made the decision to close, emphasizing the need for sustainable growth rather than simply handing out temporary solutions.

The organization’s CEO, Debbie Forster, stressed the importance of staying true to their mission and not becoming complacent with the progress made so far. While significant advancements have been achieved in increasing diversity within the tech sector, there is still work to be done to ensure that inclusivity remains a priority for all companies.

The closure of the TTC should serve as a wake-up call for companies to take ownership of their DE&I practices and drive tangible outcomes independently. It is crucial for organizations to recognize the reality of the skills gap, measure and review their data, invest in inclusivity efforts, and share knowledge with others in order to continue progress in creating a diverse and inclusive tech ecosystem.
