Versa has just rolled out its Sovereign SASE package, aiming to shake up the secure access service edge (SASE) market by 25-30%. This new offering lets businesses set up tailored networking and security services directly from their own infrastructure, adopting a hands-on, do-it-yourself approach.
They tout a unique solution to the increasing need for control over data privacy, especially with changing regulations and rising security threats. The Sovereign SASE package particularly targets highly regulated fields and critical infrastructure environments, providing a robust “air-gapped” infrastructure for top-notch security.
In the last couple of years, several organizations in sectors like defense, finance, maritime, energy, and retail have already benefited from this deployment. Now, it’s accessible for any company looking to enhance its cybersecurity.
The advantages of Sovereign SASE include greater privacy and control, reduced risk of service interruption, and smoother regulatory compliance. It allows companies to create and manage their SASE environment on their terms, boosting autonomy and data protection. Plus, it cuts down operational risks and costs linked to unexpected outages in third-party SaaS platforms, enhancing reliability and business continuity.
This launch is expected to open doors for service providers to offer more affordable solutions to small businesses and consumer markets. Versa plans to see this technology used in diverse environments—ships, planes, trains—and in advanced defense applications. They’re also looking to extend zero-trust protocols into on-site users and Internet of Things (IoT) and operational technology networks.
A North American energy company has already implemented Sovereign SASE to meet compliance standards for its essential infrastructure, securing both IT and OT networks that depend on cellular and satellite connectivity.
“Versa Sovereign SASE transforms how businesses deploy secure networking, meeting tough regulatory and operational needs,” said Anuj Dutia, Versa’s vice-president of SASE solutions and services.
Tata Communications is a key partner in this effort. Andrew Winney, their general manager overseeing SASE products, noted that current SASE platforms often limit visibility and control. By integrating Versa’s solution into their network, Tata aims to elevate user experiences and improve management, which is crucial for delivering standout managed services.
